Jen Laurie is a passionate early infancy and perinatal mental health clinician specialising in the vulnerable life stages of fertility, pregnancy and parenting in the early years. Jen’s practice, Her Herd, is based in the NSW Northern Tablelands towns of Armidale and Uralla, and more widely through telehealth appointments.
As a mother raising a young family in a rural community, Jen’s primary focus now lies with guiding women at all stages of their motherhood journey. Jen is passionate about helping women who are experiencing feelings of anxiety or depression, are struggling with miscarriage, loss and birth trauma or are facing fertility struggles. Jen is active in the world of academia, supervising students, along with working on several research projects.
Jen is currently on the senior common room of Duval College, where she herself was a resident during her studies. Jen also is a member of NSWfarmers and sits on the advisory committee for Rural Health Connects baby loss and miscarriage project. Jen holds professional registration with both the AASW and AAIMH Jen currently has started her own research project collecting the narrative of rural men and women through the first 1000 days (conception/fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum). She is now releasing these stories through her podcast HerHerd celebrating the creative problem solving, rural people use in order to address the critical primary and allied health issues that exist in their communities.
When not doing all of this Jen enjoys supporting her husband in their farm business, trying her best not to kill the amazing garden she inherited from her mother-in-law, and cooking for her boys and husband.
